s.m.a.l.l. is an art project that is made possible by cooperation at a global level and which was born from the necessity of covering one of most important basic needs in the life of a human being: EDUCATION.
We need artists from all over the world to send us their work in the form of a Mail Art. You can illustrate, paint, design, write or transform a small postcard into a unique piece of your art. These pieces will be framed, exhibited and sold in order to raise funds to build a school for children in Korem, Ethiopia.
s.m.a.l.l. also acts as an online platform to raise public awareness of the work of talented emerging artists as well as promoting the solidarity of the more established artists involved in the project.
(原文:Ponder any potential lessons on the exploitation of finite natural resources. Think about purchasing a box of matches.)
世界文化日是我幫它取的簡稱,其實全名是「世界文化多樣性促進對話和發展日」,英文名稱為「World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development」。

Variety of all living forms of life on Earth including all species of plants, animals, micro-organisms and the ecosystems which they live and interact.
Biodiversity is explored at three levels:
Genetic diversity in species
Species diversity in areas such as forest, reef etc
Ecosystem diversity
Why is biodiversity important? Biodiversity increase ecosystem productivity; all the species in that ecosystem, disregarded their sizes they all play important roles to develop and adapt to environmental changes. Our wealth needs to be maintained and enhanced for our economic, culture, social and spiritual well-being. How is biodiversity beneficial?
Human has direct benefit from a diverse ecosystem; plants, clean water and air, provide oxygen and control erosion.
Give example:
Provide variety of food sources like meat and produce
Housing materials comes from tress
Medical drugs and local herbs come from plants and most-likely marine animals
Plants absorb greenhouse gases and help reduce global warming effects
於是當天早上我們就開始製作「We Are Year 9.

NO MATTER what he did, every time John Short tried to go for a surf he attracted an audience.
''I thought I might just have a surf after work, but every time I brought a board down I'd have 50 kids following me asking to try,'' said Mr Short, who works on Nauru as a rigger at the port.
But the 51-year-old - who came to the island two years ago to help maintain the port's dangerously old equipment - did not see the children as an irritation.
''I thought this could be something good for the kids. I started lobbying all the surf companies and eventually got 12 boards donated.''
Twelve months later, Mr Short has 30 locals surfing with him, with another 50 on a waiting list - no mean feat in a country with a population of 9400.
...
...
He has also formed a local committee of Nauruan elders so the club can become a permanent part of the community.
''One day when my time's up, I want it to run on its own feet,'' he said.
Anyone wanting to donate gear or money to the Nauru Surf Club can email John at short.john55@gmail.com
(University of the South Pacific, USP) IPS於2008年出版的書籍。「A Transcript of a Series of Lectures Delivered by Native Teacher」指內容是從當地老師在課堂上所講授,並記錄於手抄本中的文字,再由諾魯的教育部主任(Director of Education) Timothy Detudamo所編輯與翻譯。
故事的主題是「Bagewa-How the Lizards, Insects and Fish Came to Nauru, page 79」,光看到著個標題,就很吸引我注意,畢竟Lizard跟Insect這兩「群」生物,在諾魯相當常見。
Once upon a time, a man called Bagewa lived in a land with his two wives, Elimama and Eabeij. There was one other person in this land, a man called Auriria. As time went on, Elimama bore thirty daughters, and they all had the same name as their mother. Eabeij also had thirty daughters, and they all had the same name as their mother. One day, when these children had grown up, they went to the beach to play and, while they were playing, Auriria suddenly appeared and frightened them so much that they ran away. 'Why did you ran away?' asked Bagewa when he saw them, and they told him that they had been frightened by a man with a glaring red eye. When Bagewa heard thus he was very angry, and went out in search of Auriria. 'Auriria-o-o' he said when he met him, 'Why did you frighten my children?' Soon, Auriria and Bagewa became angry and fell to wrestling and. in the struggle, Auriria fell down and hurt his knee. It bled so much that as last he went down to the sea to wash it, and while he was going to the sea, a strange thing happened. Instead of blood, lizards of all sorts and many kinds of insects came out from his knee. The next day, the children again went to the beach to play, but soon Auriria with the glaring red eye frightened them again, so they ran home and told their father of what had happened. Bagewa at once set out for Auriria's house and as soon as he reached it he called. 'Auriria-o-o! What have you done to my daughters?', and at once began to wrestle with him again. This time Bagewa fell and hurt his knee, and he went to the sea to wash the blood out off but, again, a strange thing happened. Out from his knee came tiny fishes: ekowarug, eamerena, eakiramaram, erub and ito. Some time after this, Auriria took the eldest of Bagewa's daughters for his wife, but it made all sisters very unhappy as they loved her so much. At last, the youngest of the sisters went to him and begged that his wife might be allowed to return to her sisters. At last, he gave her up and she was allowed to return in peace to the sisters who loved her so well. Next day, as the sun went down and the moon arose, the sisters were off to the playground on the sand, and they happily with one another ever after.
350 org.網站上的〈March 2nd: Stand with the Warriors of the Pacific〉這篇文章就是今日活動的原委。 We are fighting, and we need you to fight with us.」
We are fighting, and we need you to fight with us.」,一起對地球盡一份心力!
The monument is dedicated to memory Nauran who perished in Truk during WWII
「The Truk Memorial Monument is built in remembrance and honour of our loved ones, who for the past 68 years were laid to the rest in Truk and never again to reunited with their families in Nauru after WWII. The monument is built in direction facing towards Truk. This is to let us know and make us remember that our loved ones lay in graves in a foreign land which was formally known as Chuuk. The chosen location for the erection of the monument in Aiwo district was the landing area for those Nauruans and expatriates who safely returned back home from exile.
During the Japanese ocupation, 1201 people from our country were exiled to six islanders of Chuuk known as Fioto, Sioto, Arisima, Agisima, Kaitisima and Otisima. At the end of the global warfare in 1945 only 737 survivors returned, 464 perished. Each year on the last day of January, we celebrate and commemorate a special day for our returnees from Truk. Today only a few are still living with us and they are formally known in Nauru as the 'Young at Heart.' Story by Faith Mau」
「MWINEN KO」二月份的報紙專欄寫: 「The last beauty pageant witnessed on island was in 2001 when Nauru hosted the Pacific Islands Forum Meeting. A beauty pageant then was held with Miss Ophelia Caleb who represented New Zealand was crowned, Miss Forum. Beauty pageants in Nauru are not always held on an annual basis, but rather on special occasions and times of big celebrations. After a 12-year gap. A group consisting of women who were part of the Independence Day steering committee came up with an idea of hosting a beauty pageant contest for Nauru's 45th Anniversary of Independence. And so from a mere suggestion, the 2013 Miss Independent become reality.」
